If you’re in the market for a luxury wagon and live in the U.S., you can cross the new 2012 Audi A6 Avant off your list. Audi unveiled the new A6 Avant in Berlin recently, but says it will not sell this wagon in the U.S.
Edmunds’ Inside Line spoke with Audi of America Spokesman Andrew Lipman, who confirmed the news.
The 2011 Audi A6 Avant is currently sold in the U.S. and starts at $53,310. The luxury wagon features a 3.0-liter V6 engine, seats five and can hold 33.9 cubic feet of cargo and luggage. With the back seats folded down, the 2011 A6 Avant holds 63.8 cubic feet of cargo.
The 2012 A6 Avant will go on sale in Europe in the second half of this year and will start at $58,300, Inside Line reports. The 2012 A6 Avant is lighter, roomier and more fuel-efficient, according to Autoblog UK. The luxury wagon will be popular among families who need a lot of room in their vehicle.
If you were considering the 2012 A6 Avant and live in the U.S., you might also want to check out the $38,465 2011 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon and $30,960 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon. The CTS Sport Wagon has a 3.0-liter V6 and 58 cubic feet of cargo space, while the TSX Sport Wagon has a 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 60.5 cubic feet of cargo space with the back seats folded down.
Another possible option if you can wait to buy a luxury wagon comes from Mercedes-Benz. The automaker announced last week that it will begin selling its 2012 E63 AMG wagon this fall in the U.S., Inside Line reports.
