Meta to launch web version of Threads

Meta Platforms is set to launch the web version of its new text-first social media platform Threads, in a bid to compete with Twitter.

The web version of Threads will make it more accessible to power users like brands, company accounts, advertisers, and journalists. It will also make it easier for users to connect with their friends and family on Threads from their computers.

Threads was launched in July 2023 and quickly gained 100 million users in just five days. However, its popularity has since waned, with daily active users on Android dropping to 10.3 million in August.

According to Wall Street Journal, the feature’s “launch plans aren’t final and could change.” Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s head posted on Threads last week that Meta had been testing “an early version internally for a week or two,” but that it “needs some work” before wide release.
