3.5 Million People Needed Globally In Cybersecurity Space

June 30, 2021

As the cybersecurity space becomes ever more hostile and the prosecution of cyberspace criminals falls below 2%, there is a need to bridge the gap between the number of people who enter into cybersecurity and the available positions in cybersecurity, in order to effectively curb the increasing amount of ransomware and other cyberattacks.

According to Tom Kellermann, head of Cybersecurity Strategy for VMware in an interview with TechRepublic, there are more than 3.5 million cybersecurity vacancies worldwide that cannot be filled.

He underlined the need to introduce more girls and minorities into the cyberspace in order to increase interest and the number of cybersecurity experts needed to combat the ever-growing cyberattacks.
