Adobe Acrobat introduces its own AI assistant

February 20, 2024 Adobe Acrobat is introducing an AI Assistant as a beta feature for its PDF management software, aiming to revolutionize digital document interaction by simplifying access to information within lengthy documents.

The AI Assistant in Acrobat is designed as a conversational engine that can summarize documents, answer questions, and suggest inquiries based on the document’s content, allowing users to interact with their files as if they were having a chat.

The chatbot is intended to expedite work with large text documents, helping users like students and professionals quickly locate information or condense extensive reports into concise summaries for communication purposes.

AI Assistant works with all document formats supported by Acrobat, such as Word and PowerPoint. Adobe emphasizes that the tool follows strict data security protocols, ensuring it does not store or use data from customer documents to further train the AI.

Upon its release, the AI Assistant can evaluate a document to recommend questions, provide answers, generate citations for verification, and create links to specific sections within lengthy documents. It can also assist in compiling and formatting information for various outputs like emails and reports.

The AI Assistant is available at no extra charge to existing paying Acrobat users on Standard, Pro, and Teams subscription plans during the beta phase. Post-beta, all Reader and Acrobat customers will be able to access the full range of AI Assistant features through an additional subscription plan.

Adobe plans to integrate the AI Assistant with its Firefly generative AI model, enable it to source information from various documents and types simultaneously, and introduce capabilities to generate first drafts and assist with editing.

This innovative feature by Adobe aims to enhance productivity and streamline the handling of digital documents, heralding a new era of efficiency in document management.
