Elon Musk recently announced that his SpaceX Starlink project, which aims to supply global broadband services via a constellation of satellites, will go online in October – a month later than originally planned.
Musk confirmed that SpaceX has received “good feedback” from its beta 10 users from Starlink and that there are now plans to launch beta 10.1. Beta services are currently in use in eleven different countries.
Under the Beta services, users can expect data speeds to vary from 50Mbps to 150Mbps and latency from 20ms to 40ms in “most locations over the next several months” while the Starlink system will be further improved. The company added that the beta version will also see brief periods of no connectivity.
SpaceX’s recently made news with its first private manned mission safely returning to Earth on Saturday, marking an important milestone for the company.
