Canada’s Decision On Huawei 5G Gear To Be Announced

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the decision to ban Huawei 5G devices would be made in the “coming weeks.”

Ahead of Trudeau’s statement, the country’s response to the issues revolved around waiting for reports from its intelligence services which will be used to make a final decision.

To provide clarity on the issue, Trudeau said: ‘We continue to weigh and look at the different options, but we will be no doubt making announcements in the coming weeks.”

As the problem lingers, the United States continues to press allies to exclude Huawei from next-generation 5G networks, as the devices could undermine communications security.

Currently, other members of the Five Eyes network, which includes the U.S., U.K., Australia, and New Zealand, have solved problems by banning the tech giant, and Canadian mobile companies are now pushing ahead with 5G plans to remove Huawei from the process.
