Forrester recently revealed five predictions for 2022 for Edge, IoT, and networking devices.
The first prediction states how edge and IoT devices will make supply chains more sustainable; the second explains how satellite internet may now be at the level at which it can compete with 5G; the third shows that the chip shortage will continue to be felt; the fourth predicts an increase in investment in smart infrastructure, the fifth predicts an imminent and record-breaking attack on the IoT botnet attack coming soon.
According to Forrester, by 2022, companies will be launching more IoT and edge devices that help reduce scope 3 emissions (carbon emissions and other pollution that results as a side-effect of a business’s operations by assets they do not own or control).
Forrester also points to the government’s inability to provide the much-needed 5G network for rural areas as a necessary boost for cable and connectivity providers and Internet satellite companies to challenge 5G.
The company estimates that 85% of satellite users come from rural areas.
