OVHcloud Files Complaint On Microsoft’s Antitrust Activities

March 17, 2022

France’s OVHcloud and several unnamed companies have filed a joint antitrust complaint against Microsoft’s cloud services.

In the complaint filed, OVHcloud accuse Microsoft of licensing its products in a way that makes it expensive to use cloud services that compete with Microsoft’s Azure cloud.

The complaint also alleges that Microsoft’s software does not work on other cloud services. This, therefore, makes it difficult for other cloud companies to compete.

A Microsoft spokesperson however denied the second complaint stating that European cloud companies are using Microsoft products to build successful businesses.

“Cloud providers enjoy many options to provide cloud services to their customers using Microsoft software, whether purchased by the customer or the partner. We’re continuously evaluating how we can best support partners and make Microsoft software available to customers across all environments, including those of other cloud providers,” Microsoft’s spokesperson clarified.
