Tesla has announced an 18% drop in car deliveries for the second quarter of 2022. The automaker announced that between April and June, the company produced only 258,580 electric vehicles and delivered only 254,695.
Compared with the first quarter of 2022, the automaker was able to build 305,407 electric vehicles and deliver 291,189. Despite the development, the company claimed to have produced more cars in June 2022 than in any other month in its history.
The company said the decline was due to “ongoing supply chain challenges and factory shutdowns beyond our control.”
A detailed breakdown of Tesla’s Q2 report is scheduled for July 20, and it will also shed light on CEO Elon Musk’s claims that the company’s new factories in Berlin and Texas are “gigantic money furnaces” that cost Tesla billions.
The tight supply of semiconductors is forcing many technology companies, especially from the automotive sector, to lower their sales forecasts for this year.
