Google Reverse Image Search is increasingly being used to detect fraud, expose fake news, and find out when someone is using images to create fake online identities. A reverse image search runs in different ways, but the results show a list of all websites that display a particular image or photo with a link and description.

This allows a reverse search to detect fraud by pointing out to searchers that the photo comes from another profile, and also allows them to see if someone is reusing their images. While most sophisticated Internet users would first turn to Snopes.com to confirm a suspicious story, a reverse search provides an additional tool to expose scammers and fraudsters.

There are several ways to perform a reverse search, but it can be just as easy as going to Google Images in your web browser and dragging the image in question into the Google Images search box.
