Southwest Airlines promotes senior staffs

January 11, 2023

Southwest Airlines has publicly announced five leadership changes across some of its departments just days after announcing that the company’s service meltdown last month will cost up to $825 million.

Contrary to popular belief that staffs would be fired, these changes, which take effect immediately, represent phase two of the organizational structure work that began in September 2022. This phase will generate significant synergies by bringing Teams together, enhancing our operational execution and better serving our People and Customers.

Adam Decaire, vice president of network planning at the Texas-based carrier, has been promoted to senior vice president of network planning and network operations control (NOC), where he will continue to report to Chief Operating Officer Andrew Watterson. Decaire will be reporting to Matt Hafner, VP of Network Operations Control (NOC).

Tony Roach has been promoted to Senior Vice President Marketing & Customer Experience from Vice President Customer Experience & Engagement, and he will continue to report to Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Commercial Officer Ryan Green.

Whitney Eichinger has been promoted to Senior Vice President Culture & Communications from Vice President Culture & Engagement. Eichinger will continue to report to Linda Rutherford, Chief Administration & Communications Officer, and will lead the Culture & Engagement function in addition to the Communications & Outreach Department.

Jeff Novota is promoted to Vice President Legal-Corporate & Transactions from Associate General Counsel. While Dave Harvey is promoted to Vice President and Chief Sales Officer from Vice President Southwest Business (CSO).
