According to Apptopia, three of the most popular free mobile applications in the United States are from Chinese firms, with two of them also placing high on the list of most downloaded apps in the United Kingdom. CapCut, Shein, and Temu are three popular applications.
TikTok content makers particularly like the video editing tool CapCut. It is particularly intended for mobile editing and includes a range of options to boost video virality, such as adding trending tunes, filters, and special effects. It’s worth mentioning that ByteDance, the parent firm of TikTok, owns CapCut.
Shein is a Singapore-based fashion company founded in 2012 by Chinese billionaire Chris Xu. The firm focuses on attracting Gen Z customers via social media by selling hundreds of new goods at low costs every day. The #Shein hashtag on TikTok and Instagram has several videos of notable influencers displaying their most recent #Sheinhaul.
Temu is a shopping app that offers anything from apparel to gadgets and allows customers to buy directly from Chinese producers, avoiding conventional warehouses. Although its headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, the firm is a subsidiary of PDD Holdings, a Chinese-owned internet retailing behemoth that specializes in direct-to-consumer items. Temu was released in the United States less than a year ago.
Experts believe that the popularity of Chinese applications in the United States can be related to the tough rivalry in China’s internal market, where American apps are outlawed. Nonetheless, there are worries about the security hazards linked with Chinese-owned applications.
