June 15, 2023

Microsoft released its June 2023 Patch Tuesday update on June 13, 2023. The update includes fixes for 78 security vulnerabilities in Windows, Office, Exchange, SharePoint, Edge, and other Microsoft products.

The latest Microsoft update includes fixes for various products like Windows, Office, Exchange Server, Edge browser, SharePoint Server, .NET, Visual Studio, Teams, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Dynamics, and the Remote Desktop Client. It addresses a total of 38 vulnerabilities that can be exploited to execute code remotely, with six of them considered critical. These critical flaws can lead to denial-of-service attacks and privilege elevation.

It addressed a privilege elevation issue in Microsoft SharePoint (CVE-2023-29357) which allows attackers to exploit other users’ privileges, including administrators’, but detailed information about its exploitation is unavailable. And a remote code execution flaw in Microsoft Exchange (CVE-2023-32031) which enables authenticated attackers to execute malicious code on the server by triggering a network call using the server’s account.

The update also resolves various vulnerabilities in Office components, including Excel, Outlook, and OneNote. Exploiting these flaws allows attackers to execute remote code using specially crafted Excel and OneNote documents.
