Mondelez International, the maker of Oreo and Ritz crackers, has warned 51,000 of its past and present employees that their personal information has been stolen in a data breach.

The breach occurred at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, a law firm that provides legal services to Mondelez. The hackers were able to access the personal information of current and former Mondelez employees, including their social security numbers, first and last names, addresses, dates of birth, marital status, gender, employee identification numbers, and Mondelez retirement plan details.

Mondelez says it is unaware of any attempted or actual misuse of the stolen data. However, the company is offering free credit monitoring services to anyone whose data may have been compromised for 24 months.

Bryan Cave says it detected unauthorized access to its systems from February 23 to March 1. On March 24, it informed Mondelez about the breach and the theft of employee information. While On May 22, Mondelez determined the extent of the impact and began notifying affected individuals. Bryan Cave said it later hired a cybersecurity firm and informed law enforcement to investigate the incident.
