Bluesky suffers technical issues after Elon Musk’s X block change

Share post:

Bluesky, a decentralized social media platform experienced technical difficulties on Monday after Musk announced that Twitter would no longer support the “block” function.

Users on Bluesky reported slow load times and error messages when trying to load posts. Images and graphics were also slow to load. The site’s status page indicated that an issue affecting performance was being investigated.

The Bluesky team has not yet confirmed what caused the technical difficulties, but it is possible that the influx of new users after Musk’s announcement overwhelmed the platform’s servers. In the past, Bluesky has seen a surge in new users when Twitter makes unpopular changes.

Techmeme CEO Gabe Rivera also noted that his news sites had to stop posting to Bluesky as they were timing out when trying to use Bluesky’s APIs.

The Bluesky team said that they have fixed the main problem, but that some images may still not be loading. They are working on a fix for this issue.
