Mark Cuban, an American businessman, predicted in 2017 that computer science degrees will hold very little value for employers in the future because of AI. He believes that coders could be out of a job in 20 years.
This prediction is becoming increasingly realistic as AI becomes more capable. According to him, “Embrace AI or risk becoming obsolete.” Fast-forward to the present, Cuban’s predictions are gaining undeniable traction as artificial intelligence is beginning to reshape industries and careers worldwide.
In a recent protest, Hollywood writers argued that AI is being used to write scripts, which could put their jobs at risk. Although, some experts believe that AI will not replace writers entirely. Instead, it will be used to augment their work, making them more productive and creative.
Yann LeCun, the chief of AI at Meta, is on the other side as he believes that AI will not cause instant mass unemployment. Instead, it will displace jobs over time and make people more productive.
Also, Sam Altman, the founder of OpenAI, believes that AI can be used to make humans “super great” by training them to be unbiased, more capable, and proficient in AI.
