Windows 10’s Optional Update Feature May Be Broken

June 14, 2021

Microsoft has introduced a new “Optional Update Experience” feature to make updating devices easier, but it does not work well.

For over a year, Windows 10 has offered only one optional update at a time, although there have been several optional updates for a user version of Windows 10.

The optional update feature is supposed to fix the problem where users install an update before they have access to another desired update.

Users are still unnecessarily forced to install feature updates before gaining access to the desired updates, suggesting that the optional update may be broken.
