WD My Book Live Storage Devices Being Wiped

Following mass incidents of disk wiping that came to light on Western Digital’s support forum, Western Digital, maker of the popular My Disk external hard drives, asked customers to disconnect My Book Live storage devices from the Internet until the company’s engineers investigated the true cause of the compromise.

While one user had initially started the thread about the data loss, other My Book Live users confirmed the incident, with many reporting that the data loss coincided with a factory reset being performed on their devices.
