How The Dark Web Gains Access To Corporate Networks

A report released Wednesday by security provider Positive Technologies shed more light on how the dark web enables access to corporate networks.

This was based on an analysis of 10 popular Russian and English forums on the DarkWeb that provide access to corporate networks,

According to the report, hackers use a variety of ways to steal network access, including account compromises.

Although corporate networks worth about $600,000 are sold on the dark web, the sale price for network access is cheap, as they are sold by amateur criminals who are afraid to carry out such attacks because of the associated risk.

According to Yana Yurakova, an analyst at Positive Technologies, “Gaining access is only the first step in an attack, and even novice attackers can take this step. They are not sure that they will be able to silently move further along the network and to monetize their efforts, they put up ready-made access for sale on the forum on the Dark Web.”

Yurakova says that organizations can protect themselves by training their employees, setting up the right security, hiring qualified security staff and being aware that anyone can be a target.
