Adobe to introduce new AI features into its video editing software

April 18, 2023

Adobe has announced plans to introduce new artificial intelligence (AI) tools into its video editing software to improve the editing experience for the film and television industries. These features will allow video editors to do things like change the lighting in a scene from midday to sunset or create background music by instructing the machine with a few typed words.

The new AI products will be based on Adobe’s Firefly technology, which was introduced last month and is used to generate still pictures and text. Adobe has assured its clients that the output of the Firefly system is suitable for commercial usage.

Users will be able to enter a script and the program will automatically build a storyboard for the completed result, with the system proposing some of the shots for a rough cut of the tale. The system will contain tools for marketers that may take video and produce diverse background music and scenery for presenting advertisements in different regions.

“With a single button,” says Ivo Manolov, Adobe’s Vice President of Digital and film Audio Enterprise Offerings, “we can generate 1,000 versions of the same video that are localized.” The new AI functions are presently being tested, with a release later this year expected.

Adobe intends to include these features into both high-end professional tools and Adobe Express, which is geared toward social media makers and consumers, as it did with the AI tools for still pictures launched last month.
