AI Will be Ready for Prime Time Sooner Than Expected

September 10, 2021

Gartner analysts Shubhangi Vashisth and Svetlana Sicular have pointed to an accelerated development cycle for artificial intelligence, showing that artificial intelligence may peak earlier than expected.

To back up their claims, the researchers identified four AI megatrends that show the path that AI currently seems to be taking.

This has included a growing number of companies looking to operationalise AI platforms to enable reusability, scalability and governance, while accelerating the adoption and growth of AI.

Moreover, advanced innovation in AI, which requires efficient use of all resources, including data, models, and calculations, is also following the growth trend of AI.

Responsible AI, which includes explicable AI, risk management, and AI ethics, is also growing exponentially.

Finally, small and broad data approaches that provide space for more robust analysis and artificial intelligence.

The researchers also highlighted six technologies that are in the “innovation trigger phase” and will peak in the next two to five years, including compound AI, AI orchestration and automation platform, AI governance, generative AI, human-centered AI, and synthetic data.
