Anonymous hacker launches WormGPT

July 17, 2023

According to SlashNext, a hacker has released WormGPT, an adversarial alternative of ChatGPT that is specifically designed to aid criminals. It is presently available for purchase on hacking markets for 60 Euros or a yearly membership for 550 Euros.

WormGPT does not have any controls in place to prevent it from catering to malicious requests. According to its anonymous developer, the goal of this project is to give an alternative to ChatGPT, allowing users to participate in different illicit activities and simply sell them online. It can also build malware code in Python and provide advice on how to create sophisticated, dangerous assaults.

To create this malicious chatbot, the developer used an older open-source language model, GPT-J from 2021, and educated it using malware development data. SlashNext went on to say that it is capable of sending a wonderfully compelling and strategically astute email capable of carrying out complex phishing and BEC assaults.

It also utilized professional terminology to persuade the targeted victim to send money through the mail. It did so without any spelling or grammar errors, which are warning indicators for a phishing email campaign.
