Apple Inc. on Friday said it had tightened some of its rules for responding to legal requests after the U.S. Justice Department asked it for information about Democratic lawmakers during Trump’s presidency.

This was part of an investigation looking for the sources behind media reports of contacts between Trump associates and Russia.

The subpoena related to information on 109 identifiers, which consisted of 73 telephone numbers and 36 email addresses, but did not release content such as emails and images to authorities.

The tech giant said it had no way of saying what the nature of the investigation was and released only basic account information such as names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers as well as connection logs and IP addresses.
