Blue Origin Faces Multiple Workplace And Safety Accusations

October 1, 2021

A group of 21 current and former Blue Origin employees accused the space tourism company of fostering a discriminatory and “toxic” workplace, focusing more on speed and cost reduction than safety.

The group also noted that the company is “rife with sexism” and that executives are “known to be consistently inappropriate with women” The essay also points accusatory fingers at a senior executive who it says enjoys protection from his close relationship with Jeff Bezos.

Alexandra Abrams, Director of Employee Communications and author of the open essay, explained that she believes that competition is more important than security, as the company is under increasing pressure to stay ahead of its competitors.

However, a Blue Origin spokesperson denies this, stressing that the company has zero tolerance for any form of discrimination.
