December 21, 2022

Microsoft having confirmed a $2.5 billion acquisition of the company behind the hit game Minecraft, LinkedIn for $26 billion, Nuance for $20 billion, as well as a proposed $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, is also eyeing Netflix according to certain reports.

Microsoft and Netflix already have a close relationship. Microsoft was chosen as Netflix’s advertising partner for a new advertising-supported subscription service. Microsoft President Brad Smith also serves on the Netflix board of directors. One of the reasons for the agreement is that Microsoft wants to offer a video-game streaming service across multiple devices.

While it is far from confirmed, a Breakingviews prediction for 2023 places Netflix under the control of Microsoft. According to Reuters, the two companies are already in bed together, making it both easier and more logical.

Reuters It was mentioned that Netflix purchased a couple of video game developers in order to offer video games as part of their subscription service. According to Reuters, “becoming part of the Microsoft empire would supercharge those ambitions,” and it’s easy to imagine a collaboration with Game Pass and Netflix.
