Britain Warns Of Cyberattacks As Ukraine Crisis Intensifies

February 23, 2022

Britain’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has called on organizations to increase their security levels against potential cyberattacks.

The warning became necessary as the crisis between Ukraine and Russia worsens.

“While the NCSC is not aware of any current specific threats to UK organizations in relation to events in and around Ukraine, there has been a historical pattern of cyberattacks on Ukraine with international consequences,” the NCSC statement said.

Putin’s recent move to deploy troops in two breakaway regions of eastern Ukraine underscores a new crisis that will lead to sanctions.

Since the beginning of the crisis, Ukraine has faced a series of cyberattacks that could now be extended to countries that oppose Russia in its quest.

In order to contain cyber threats, six EU countries have decided to send cybersecurity experts to Ukraine. The countries include Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Estonia, Romania and Croatia.
