Check Point Software Acquires Email Security Company Avanan

August 31, 2021

Check Point Software Technologies has announced that it has acquired cybersecurity firm Avanan for an undisclosed amount.

According to Dorit Dor, Chief Product Officer of Check Point, “More and more businesses are moving to cloud-email platforms and with email becoming a major channel to launch devastating cyber-attacks, this acquisition represents a huge potential.”

Given that 95% of cyberattacks on corporate networks are the product of phishing, the company said that the technology would merge with Check Point’s threat prevention software “to deliver the world’s most secure email security offering” while protecting remote workers “from malicious files, URLs and phishing across email, collaboration suites, web, network and endpoint.”

Check Point Software Technologies declined to disclose the financial details of the deal.

According to Check Point, Avanan, founded in 2015, uses its technology to block harmful emails before they reach a user’s inbox. Avanan has more than 5,000 customers with over 2.5 million protected email accounts.
