Citigroup Launches Zoom-free Fridays to Ease Pandemic ‘Fatigue’

March 25, 2021

American investment bank Citigroup released a memo to its employees last Monday on observing “Zoom-free Fridays.”

Furthermore, CEO Jane Fraser has declared May 28 as a company-wide holiday known as “reset day.”

The Covid 19 pandemic resulted in a sudden shift to remote work for many organizations worldwide, leading to the ubiquitous utilization of video conferencing softwares like Zoom.

Fraser noted that clear changes needed to be made in response to staff feedback.

Citi expects most of its employees to return to the office at least part-time in a post-pandemic world. Other large companies like Microsoft and Ford have stated that some of the increased flexibility introduced during the pandemic is likely to remain with remote workers keeping their work-from-home setup.
