Cockroach Labs extends CockroachDB Dedicated to Microsoft Azure

May 17, 2023

Cockroach Labs has announced that CockroachDB Dedicated, their fault-tolerant distributed SQL database-as-a-service, will now support Microsoft Azure and allow for multiregion deployments.

CockroachDB Dedicated has expanded its compatibility to all three main public cloud service providers, including Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud, by introducing Microsoft Azure support, providing a comprehensive solution for corporations. According to Cockroach Labs.

CockroachDB’s newest integration with Microsoft Azure not only simplifies multiregion deployments, but also allows data rows to be distributed over many cloud regions while working as a single logical database. This revolutionary feature enables businesses to pay only for the precise storage and compute use they require, substantially lowering costs as compared to traditional database systems, which generally increase prices when expanding to new locations.

Cockroach Labs has also improved migration possibilities through current database solutions, including upgrades to its migrating tool, Molt. The technology, named after the process of new development in an insect’s lifecycle and inspired by formal training and onboarding of new workers inside a firm (known as Model for Optimal Learning and Transfer), allows organizations to migrate data seamlessly.
