The District of Columbia, through Attorney General Karl Racine’s office, announced a lawsuit against Amazon for allegedly violating antitrust laws that prevent sellers from selling their products on other websites at lower prices.
The lawsuit states that “Amazon’s actions constitute unreasonable and unlawful restraints of trade” and that “Amazon acted unlawfully to maintain or attempt to achieve a monopoly in the online retail sales market in the United States.”
The lawsuit seeks a court order preventing Amazon from continuing such anti-competitive practices, along with fines, legal fees, and “restitution and damages for harmed consumers.”
