ElonJet tracker moves to Threads after Musk ban

July 10, 2023

College student Jack Sweeney has moved his ElonJet tracker to Meta’s Threads after being banned from Twitter last year.

The account, which uses the handle @elonmusksjet, tracks the movements of Elon Musk’s private jet using data available in the public domain. It had over 21,000 followers on Twitter before it was suspended.

Sweeney has continued to track Musk’s flights on Instagram despite the lawsuit threat that never came to fruition. He has also made it clear that he is not backing down from tracking Musk’s jet, even on Threads.

In his first post on Threads, Sweeney wrote: “ElonJet has arrived to Threads!” In a separate post, he appeared to reference his ban on Twitter, and asked: “@zuck will I be allowed to stay?” Sweeney’s Threads account has since gained a substantial following of 15,000 users.

Sweeney’s shift to Threads comes at a time when the Meta-owned Threads is offering a direct threat to Twitter.
