Exploit Cybercrime Forum Bans and Removes Ransomware Ads

May 17, 2021

A second cybercrime forum, Exploit, announced that ransomware ads will now be banned and removed. This announcement follows the Russian-language hacker forum, XSS, which permanently banned ransomware themes last week.

According to the forum, which is used by ransomware gangs when hiring partners and advertising their Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS) services, the decision was made because Ransomware groups, who attack indiscriminately targets, attract “a lot of attention.”

In view of the increasing pressure of state authorities on ransomware gangs, more cybercrime and hacker communities are pushing ransomware operations away from their platforms, leaving many wondering how and if RaaS gangs will continue to promote their activities and also recruit new members.
