Facebook Disrupt Hacking Operation Which Uses Social Media Platform To Spread iOS And Android Malware

Researchers recently accused the Chinese government of being behind the various malware attack perpetrated by hackers. This came after Facebook disclosed that it disrupted a hacking operation that used the social media platform to spread iOS and Android malware. According to reports, the hackers exploited a host of iOS vulnerabilities to install the malware security firm, Volexity called Insomnia.

While addressing the issue, head of Facebook cyberespionage investigation, Mike Dvilyanski and Nathaniel Gleicher who works as the company’s head of security policy revealed, “On our platform, this cyber-espionage campaign manifested primarily in sending links to malicious websites rather than direct sharing of the malware itself.”
