Facebook is fighting back against President Joe Biden’s comment accusing Facebook of “killing people” with COVID-19 misinformation.

In a blog post from the company’s vice president of integrity Guy Rosen, Rosen countered the comments, saying Facebook had worked with Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and the University of Maryland to conduct a global survey on COVID-19 symptoms, testing and vaccination rates.

According to Rosen, the results showed that 85% of Facebook users in the U.S. are or want to be vaccinated against the virus.

Rosen added that Facebook was not the reason why President Biden failed to meet his goal of 70% vaccinated Americans by July.

A Facebook spokesperson argues on Friday that the president’s comments were not supported by facts.

Although not a single social media company can be blamed for lower vaccination rates, misinformation on social media, in general, is still an issue, and further action must be taken to stop its spread.
