Facebook To Add Voice And Video Calling To Main App

August 24, 2021

Facebook is conducting a trial that will allow some users to make voice and video calls using its main app.

For a long time, it has been impossible to make both video and voice calls via Facebook’s main app, as users need to be redirected to their Messenger app before they can perform such operations.

Users who do not have the Messenger app are advised to download it. Undoubtedly, this seems to be a long process for many users who have to open another Facebook app because they want to make a call.

Although the process is still ongoing, a Facebook spokesperson pointed out that users interested in enjoying full-featured messaging, audio and video calls are advised to continue using Messenger.

Facebook, for its part, continues to push for cohesion among its many apps as it moves to create a unified messaging platform across apps. The latest update is when Instagram integrated with Messenger last September to ensure that users of each service can message and hold video calls with contacts on the other side without having to download both apps.
