Facebook’s whistleblower Frances Haugen said Facebook could only recover from the chaos it caused if Mark Zuckerberg stepped down.
The whistleblower made her position known in an interview with Bloomberg when asked if Mark Zuckerberg should go.
Haugen has been in the headlines since she leaked some of Facebook’s internal data that she was able to access during her departure from the company. Haugen said the social media giant knew that its products were harming teenagers “mental health and fueling ethnic violence in countries like Ethiopia.
In her interview with Bloomberg, Haugen explained that Zuckerberg “genuinely believes that Facebook is just a mirror” of reality and that “you are unhappy because you can see it now.”
She went on to explain that the company is complicated and that Zuckerberg, unlike most other publicly traded companies, has 56% of the voting rights. “No one, but Mark Zuckerberg can control Facebook right now.”
In 2021, Facebook changed its name to Meta, which is now the group name for Mark Zuckerberg’s companies and platforms.
