Fake Windows 11 Installers Are Infecting Users With Malware

July 26, 2021

Scammers are spreading fake Windows 11 installers laced with malware and other dangerous tools while Microsoft prepares the next Windows release.

While Microsoft already made the Windows OS available for installation to customers who were registered in the Insider Program, Kaspersky security experts explained that hundreds of users had already downloaded the installers from unofficial sources.

Users are already being infected by malicious programs designed by attackers to spread malicious code and move a wider range of other payloads from adware to more dangerous trojans and password stealers.

To avoid being infected by scammers, Windows installers should only download official content from credible sources.

Windows 11 is available to all Windows Insider program users and can be installed on any Windows 10 computer.
