Gartner Publishes Its 2021 Emerging Tech Hype Cycle

August 24, 2021 Gartner published its Hype Cycle 2021 for Emerging Technologies, a branded graphical presentation developed and used by the company to illustrate the maturity, adoption and social application of certain technologies.

The hype cycle helps tech buyers by raising awareness and also familiarizing them with the buzzword bingo they will receive from vendors. It also simplifies more than 1,500 technologies into a list of essential tools.

Among the things to be noted in this year’s report are the effects of artificial intelligence on code generation and the increase in design and innovation, which are said to be coming in about 5-10 years.

In addition, composable will become a keyword for applications and networks, industry clouds that recently launched on the hype cycle, with a plateau that will be reached in 5 to 10 years.

Digital humans are a popular talking point, but Gartner estimates that the technology is more than 10 years away from productivity gains. Quantum-based machine learning is also more than 10 years out.
