Gartner reveals top ten strategic technology risks

October 20, 2022

Gartner has released a list of the top ten strategic technology trends that companies should explore in 2023 to help increase resilience, streamline operations, scale and develop new forms of customer loyalty.

Sustainability, one of the trends, is a framework that improves the energy and material efficiency of IT services, enables sustainability in businesses through technologies such as traceability, analytics, renewable energy and artificial intelligence, and deploys IT solutions to help customers achieve their own sustainability goals.

Another is the Metaverse, a shared virtual 3D shared space created by the convergence of virtually enhanced physical and digital reality.

The third option is Superapp, which combines the functionality of an app, platform and ecosystem in a single application so that third-party developers can create and publish their mini-apps.

The fourth is adaptive AI systems that retrain and learn within development environments based on new data to quickly adapt to real-world changes planned during development.

The Digital Immune System ranks fifth on the list because it combines data-driven operational insights, automated and extreme testing, automated incident resolution, software engineering within IT operations, and security in the application supply chain to improve the resilience and stability of the system.

Sixth, Applied Observability, which reflects the digitized artifacts that emerge when any stakeholder takes action, such as logs, traces, API calls, dwell time, downloads, and file transfers.

Seventh, AI Trust, Risk, and Security Management, which is entrusted with the management of AI risks, preventing ransomware attacks on AI, and preventing privacy violations or security incidents.

Eighth, industry cloud platforms that offer a combination of SaaS, platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) to support specific industrial use cases.

Platform engineering, the ninth, is the discipline of building and operating self-service internal developer platforms for software delivery and lifecycle management.

Wireless Value Realization is the tenth trend, and it entails applying a wide range of wireless solutions to all environments, from office Wi-Fi to mobile device services to low-power services and even radio connectivity.
