German Scientists Built A High-res Microscope From Lego

According to a recent paper published in The Biophysicist, German scientists built a high-resolution microscope using Lego pieces and components they had received from a mobile phone.

This is part of an ongoing trend of “frugal science,” which uses cheap consumer hardware and open-source software to build low-cost scientific instruments.
