Google Adds New Storage Products for Better Data Protection

September 17, 2021

Google Cloud has announced two new storage products, Filestore Enterprise and Backup for Google Kubernetes Engine, and expanded its cloud storage capabilities.

The launch comes amid increased efforts by Google to protect its customers’ data.

The company’s cloud storage update allows users to select their region from dual-region buckets. Google will also offer a new Turbo Replication option for dual-region buckets, replicating 100% of user data between regions in 15 minutes or less.

The step gives users the opportunity to adapt their dual-region bucket to their own needs and use cases.

Filestore Enterprise would provide powerful read and write capabilities and high availability achieved through synchronous replication across multiple zones in a region. If a zone within a region is not available, Filestore will continue to make the data available to the application transparently without any operational intervention.
