Following a breakdown in negotiations between Google and the ratings website Yelp, the tech giant filed a court order Monday evening to produce documents from one of its well-known critics, Luther Lowe as it continues its ongoing federal antitrust case against the United States in court.

Because Yelp resisted Google’s request to submit documents related to the company’s allegations against Google, the tech giant was forced to seek a subpoena from the court that compels email archives and other documents.

The 51-page filing states: “Yelp’s allegations against Google conceived and advanced by Mr. Lowe, are a central part of the government’s case. Now that the very governmental action Yelp advocated for in its communications is underway, Yelp cannot deny Google the documents it needs to defend itself.”
