November 24, 2025 Google appears to be working on a new feature that would allow its Gemini artificial intelligence assistant to directly access and utilize user notes from NotebookLM.
According to a report by Android Authority, code hidden within the latest version of the Google app indicates the tech giant is developing a “connected app” shortcut for NotebookLM. The discovery was made by contributor AssembleDebug and suggests users may soon be able to reference their research notebooks without leaving the Gemini interface.
NotebookLM is Google’s AI-powered note-taking and research tool. It allows users to upload documents, such as PDFs or audio files, and generates summaries, citations, and “Audio Overviews” — a feature where AI hosts discuss the material in a podcast-like format.
Currently, Gemini operates separately from NotebookLM. Users must switch between the two platforms to copy information or citations. The reported update would add NotebookLM to Gemini’s list of extensions, which already includes YouTube, Google Maps, and Google Workspace apps like Docs and Drive.
The findings, first detailed by the site TestingCatalog, reveal a new button in the Gemini app’s “Attachments” menu.
“Google may soon add NotebookLM to the list of Connected Apps supported by Gemini,” the Android Authority report states. “This would save users time and let them use the best of Gemini’s latest thinking models without leaving the Gemini app.”
While the feature is not yet available to the public or beta testers, the code suggests two primary functions: the ability to import a specific notebook as an attachment for analysis, and a shortcut to quickly access NotebookLM files during a chat session.
Google has not officially announced a release date for the integration.
