Google to integrate AI chats, short videos, others in search results

May 8, 2023

According to papers and people familiar with the topic quoted by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Google is planning to revamp the way it delivers search results, emphasizing on discussions with artificial intelligence and more brief video and social-media posts.

Google will abandon its usual method of delivering results, colloquially known as the “10 blue links.” According to the papers, Google intends to make its search engine more “visual, snackable, personal, and human” with an emphasis on servicing young people. It will also include more human voices into search results, assisting content creators in the same manner it has done with webpages in the past.

Google officials have previously stated that the number of active websites has reached a point of no return in recent years, and that internet users are increasingly turning to alternative applications to get information. Hence, Google has started to include some online forum postings and short films in search results, but it aims to emphasize such content considerably more in the future.

According to the internal papers defining the business’s strategy for making modifications to the search engine this year, the corporation intends to place a higher focus on replying to questions that cannot be simply addressed by typical online results. “More than answers, we’ll help you when there’s no right answer,” the materials claimed.
