According to a recent Backblaze report, high-capacity hard disk drives (HDDs) are proving to be both reliable and excellent storage options. The report compared the reliability and storage capacity of hard disk drives (HDDs) to that of solid-state drives (SSDs), concluding that HDDs are still an excellent choice for those seeking large amounts of storage at a low cost.
According to the report, HDDs with capacities of 8TB or higher had an average annual failure rate of only 1.6%, making them a dependable option for storing large amounts of data. Furthermore, the cost of HDDs per terabyte of storage is still significantly lower than that of SSDs, making them an appealing option for those seeking a cost-effective solution. The report did note, however, that HDDs are slower than SSDs or are not suitable for use in high-performance applications.
