The trade union Unite is setting up a hotline for Amazon staff to complain about the treatment of staff at the internet retail giant.

Organizer Sharon Graham told the BBC it was time for Amazon, which had its most profitable year in 2020 as a result of the pandemic-induced surge in online shopping, to share its huge profits with the staff who help make them.

The hotline, which was set up last Monday, encourages Amazon employees to speak out about the exploitation they face every day as a result of the retail giant’s relentless drive for more sales. Unite also called on Amazon to recognize unions.

For its part, the retail giant vehemently rejected the criticism, saying that its employees receive excellent pay and benefits with very good career prospects while working in a safe and modern environment.
