HP Reportedly Working On a 17-inch Foldable PC

April 21, 2022

South Korean electronics website The Elec reported that HP is working on a foldable OLED screen that will come with a 17-inch panel from LG Display that measures 11 inches when folded up.

Although HP has not confirmed the reality of such a technology, various indications suggest that the company could be working on such a technology.

In January, LG Display confirmed that it was working on a 17-inch foldable OLED laptop design. Also, South Korean company SK IE Technology announced that it would produce transparent polyimide films to cover the bendy 4K OLED panels.

A further clarification states that LG Display plans to manufacture “around 10,000” foldable OLED panels for HP starting in the third quarter.

While foldable PCs have not yet become mainstream, Lenovo has produced a foldable PC. The company launched the ThinkPad X1 Fold two years ago.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold has several features, including a 2048×1536 foldable OLED screen, up to an Intel Core i5-L16G7 with one performance core and four efficiency cores. Others include a clock speed of 1.4-3GHz, 8GB LPDDR4X-4267 memory and 256GB SSD storage.
