Microsoft Discontinues its “Olympia Corp” Program

August 17, 2022

Microsoft announced in emails to participants that it would close its Olympia Corp testing laboratory for Windows enterprise users.

“We are sending this email to notify you that we will formally be shutting down the Olympia program in a month. We will be unassigning Olympia licenses and deleting the Olympia feedback path. Action Required: Take a backup of ant data if you’re using the provided Olympia licenses in the next 30 days, by September 12, 2022,” Microsoft said in an email sent to participants.

Microsoft’s Olympia program was introduced in 2017 as a kind of “Windows Insider Lab for Enterprise,” designed to encourage Windows 10 Insider for Business testers to try out some of its upcoming business-oriented features.

Microsoft has not explained why the company closed down the Windows testing laboratory Olympia. However, there is speculation that Olympia has been used so little and that it made no sense for Microsoft to continue the program at a time when it is tightening its belt in Windows and Office organizations.

According to Chris Gahlsdorf, Windows Insider Most Valuable Professional (MVP), the Olympia lab was just crucial to seeing how things were “supposed to work.”
