Microsoft Fixes Bug That Incorrectly Sends Emails To Junk

May 27, 2021

More than an hour after Microsoft initially tweeted that it was investigating a problem related to emails sent to the user’s junk folders, the tech giant announced that the bug was the result of the change it made, while reassuring users that the problem had been fixed.

The Microsoft update stated, “We’ve reverted the change and observed successful email delivery. We’re now reprocessing any emails that were incorrectly delivered as junk. More info can be found in the admin center under EX25837.”

The issue reportedly began with Microsoft Office about 12 hours earlier, when Microsoft said it was investigating a problem where users were unable to send email messages via Exchange Online.

While the problem was fixed by midnight, Microsoft 365 users saw a series of emails on Thursday morning that were erroneously labeled junk.
