Microsoft Investigates Outlook Issue Related To Security Key

September 21, 2021

Microsoft is investigating an issue with Outlook that prevents customers from adding Gmail accounts when using security keys for multifactor authentication.

In particular, some Outlook customers have to deal with sent messages incorrectly displaying follow-up flags, with some e-mails incorrectly flagged, and others being cleared without user interaction.

Microsoft pointed out that the bug only affects Japanese, Russian, Hebrew or Greek versions of Outlook, although it may affect others.

Customers experiencing the problem and interested in clearing the issue can do so by choosing a different MFA method.

Affected users can “Work around this issue by choosing another method for 2-step verification by following the steps and information.”
